American Exceptionalism...

"Let every nation know... we will pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty" - President John F. Kennedy

This quote comes from President John F. Kennedy, a Democrat and more importantly an Officer in the United States Navy. This is why I believe in American exceptionalism.

American exceptionalism is the worldview that the United States occupies a special niche among the nations of the world in terms of its national credo, political and religious institutions, and its being built by immigrants (thank you Wikipedia).

Back in the 90's the Europeans were either too weak or just plain scared to do anything about the crisis in Kosovo. So another Democratic, President Bill Clinton, decided to show leadership on the matter and used the US Military to stop the ethnic cleansing.

I believe that President Obama's greatest disappointment is that he does not believe in American exceptionalism. Knowing the President's personal story, how can he not believe in American exceptionalism? He is a self-made man from humble beginnings who because of his exceptional abilities is the leader of his country. Being exceptional is good. I hope the President remembers that. The United States of America is a Leader, not a follower.
