The Intelligence Community

I just don’t see much progress in reforming the Intelligence Community. There are still turf wars going on – look at the uproar that recently flared up about alleged “field intelligence units” that work for the Department of Defense (supposed this kind of activity has traditionally been the domain of the Central Intelligence Agency). Who care which agency does what; as long we get the bad guys, I don’t care if it is the Girl Scouts in charge. It took way too long for the some of the reforms from the 9/11 Commission to make their way through Congress – and not all of the reforms have been put into effect. My opinion is that is will take the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans to snap the feuding federal agencies out of their stove pipe mentality and into a mode of “common purpose.”
