Zilch!

I read Information Week and their annual U.S. IT salary survey came out recently and was titled, Zilch. This refers to the 0% pay raise for U.S. IT workers. But as it states in the survey, "pay attention to the consequences." The consequences are -

  1. Employees are worried about their jobs
  2. Employees crave recognition
  3. Employees are prepared to leave if opportunity knocks

IT is the modern organization's Operations - you simply can't have operations without computers, networks, and the Internet. As a side note, I've always believed that if IT doesn't report to its own executive (ie, a CIO), then it should report to the Chief Operations Office (COO) and not the CFO. Anyways, here is a link to the Information Week story.
